Knit Headband

Here's one:I love how making these lets me practice my stitches. I love the texture they all have!

Forgot to post this

The scarf is done. I've been knitting some cute little headbands lately. My cousin just had a baby shower and I made three of them for her. I forgot to take pictures of them before I wrapped them up and gave them to her. I've been really sick for the past few days, so if can ever get around to taking pictures of the new ones I've done I'll show you.

Working on a new quit for the shop.

I really love it. Hope someone with a baby will really love it too. Very vintage fab! (Which means that I hope some someone will appreciate the coolness of the fabrics used. If it's not anyone's style but mine then I'm happy to hang on to it.) I'll show it when it's complete.

On the Needles

I learned to cast on a week ago and I've pretty sure I've found a new obsession. Why did I wait so long to learn to knit? It's awesome. Very relaxing and you can't beat how portable it is! I can do it in the car while I'm waiting to pick up my kids, I can do it in bed while watching TV. I can do a row here and there when I need to take a break for a minute. It's so fun! I had a pretty rocky start. I decided that I would just knit a skein without "making" anything just to practice because I knew if I said I was making a dishcloth or a scarf when I was just learning the basic stitch and it didn't turn out, I'd give up and say, I can't knit. But since it was just practice I didn't care when I dropped a stitch or pick up an extra one somehow. I think I have the hang of it now. Time to learn how to purl and move on to other stitches. I'm just about finished with a scarf. I'll post pictures of it soon.

Making it cute: A Hoodie Refashion Tutorial

I adore this but there is no way that I'm spending close to $100 for it. So how about making something similar?
(Picture from Chasing Fireflies)

I had this pink hoodie that we got at target. Rarely got worn. Perfect for a refashion.
It went from that to this pretty quickly:
#1.) Cut a heart out of paper the size you want.
#2.) Trace the heart and draw lines down to the corners of the hoodie.
#3.) Start sewing ruffles from the top of the heart and follow the line all the way around and then follow the hoodie boarder until you end up back where you started.
I have jersey bias tape in big rolls. (I'm sure there will be a lot of jersey tutorials this year with this stuff.) If you don't have that you can cut your own jersey into one inch strips, or use any other type of fabric that you think would look good. I bet ribbon would work too!
You're done! This would be a cute gift for valentines day for your little girl.

Easy Office or Neighbor Gift

You know those gingersnaps I gave you the recipe for yesterday? I made them AGAIN along with some chocolate mint cookies for my DH to give to the guys at his office. Of course I had to wrap them.
So here's what I did. I took some old containers that I've had lying around waiting for a project just like this. (Tell me that I'm not the only one who saves stuff like this! You know what works REALLY well that I wish I saved, is baby formula containers.)
Anyhow, grab some glue and scrapbook paper too.

I covered them and then put wax paper inside. You can use tissue paper, but I think with cookie the waxpaper works nicely.

Fill them up with cookies. (Crystal lite containers are the perfect size for these!)

Then I just wrapped them with ribbon and extra ornaments I had.

Hope they enjoy them!

A boy project!

I reconstructed a couple shirts the same way I did the girls. I should have taken the neckline in a bit on the abercrombie one and I should have made the sleeves a little wider on the stripped one, but oh well. Next time.
