I learned to cast on a week ago and I've pretty sure I've found a new obsession. Why did I wait so long to learn to knit? It's awesome. Very relaxing and you can't beat how portable it is! I can do it in the car while I'm waiting to pick up my kids, I can do it in bed while watching TV. I can do a row here and there when I need to take a break for a minute. It's so fun!
I had a pretty rocky start. I decided that I would just knit a skein without "making" anything just to practice because I knew if I said I was making a dishcloth or a scarf when I was just learning the basic stitch and it didn't turn out, I'd give up and say, I can't knit.
But since it was just practice I didn't care when I dropped a stitch or pick up an extra one somehow. I think I have the hang of it now. Time to learn how to purl and move on to other stitches. I'm just about finished with a scarf. I'll post pictures of it soon.
