Seems like I haven't made anything since I've found out that I was pregnant. Actually it's probably been before that, which is a REALLY long time for me not to create something. I figure creating a baby counts though. Well, I had a previous customer from my shop email me asking me to make her a new hair clip, so I got out my semi-organized stash and got to work. (I'm in the process of actually organizing all my craft stuff, not to mention the whole basement so that we can finish it.) Whenever I take these long breaks from being creative I find that once I start I really really extremely enjoy it. It's so relaxing to me. Even though making hair things is kind of mindless, it's a nice way to spend a little bit of time doing something I enjoy.

4th of July Decorating
Today I made a little decoration for the 4th with the kids. My daughter was so excited and proud to hang them up. Nothing too special. Just made some lanterns (they are supposed to look like fireworks exploding) and stars from paper I had laying around. Add some ribbon and you're in business. We really love decorating for holidays. The kids love helping with all the different projects!
It's so fun to bond with them and teach them about what traditions we have and what the day is about. I was telling my daughter that the 4th of July is about our country's freedom, but she couldn't get passed the fireworks. So if you ask her what it's about she'll say fireworks. But hey, as a kid, isn't that what it's about?
I know as she grows she'll come to really understand, and be proud to be an American and for our freedom. For now I'm glad that she's proud of her lantern, because I love to see that girl smile!

Another one
Here are a couple knit flower headbands that I've been knitting. See, I told you I have more things planned for those flowers. (Thanks for the tips Allison on making the pictures bigger!) Also, I'm well aware that I need to cut my bangs, but I'm still deciding on whether I want to grow them out, thin them out, or just keep them the way I've had them. What do you think?

Update
I'm planning a shop update soon. I felt like making some new jewelry and here's what I've come up with so far.
Remember those flowers I knitted? Here they are. I have other plans for them as well.
And as promised, more pictures of myself. "Hello" to my kids in the future when they see this. Anyone know how to take a good self portrait? Maybe I should set up the tripod next time instead of taking them in my dirty mirror?
I love these flocked beads! I think they look so cool with the knit flowers.

Cake Stands On A Budget
I was in charge of our RS B-Day dinner and of course I forgot to take my camera and take pictures of it all set up. It was cute. Think lots of balloons, scrapbook paper and cupcakes on these stands at the center pieces on the tables.
I had originally wanted to buy cupcake trees to use for the centerpieces, but I didn't have $100 to spend on them and there was also the issue of where we would store them and what other activity we would use them for. So I headed to the dollar store to make my alternative.
All it took was some glasses and plates.
I hot glued the cups to the plates and they held up just fine for the evening, but if I were to make cake stands that I wanted to use again and again I would have used epoxy.
I think that our RS president took pictures at the dinner. Maybe I can get a hold of some to show you how it all turned out. No one guessed that the cake stands weren't real. I think it would be fun to do some tiered ones or make them different heights for another activity or party. For 2 buck you can't really go wrong!
